Services

Three scopes. Same method, different depth.

Each service is written as four things: what I check, what you receive, how long it takes, and what it costs. If your situation does not fit one of these, message me — I would rather quote precisely than sell you the wrong scope.

A · Certificate & Compliance Verification

from $45

Most supplier checks stop at one question: is this certificate real? That question is not enough. A certificate can be genuine, unexpired, and issued to the right company — and still not cover the product you are buying. I verify certificates the way a compliance professional reads them, not the way a checklist reads them.

What I check

  • Validity — current, withdrawn, suspended or expired
  • Scope — does the certified scope cover your product, material and process? A factory certified for plastic houseware is not certified for aluminium furniture
  • Holder identity — is the holder the same legal entity on your invoice and receiving your payment, or a sister company, related trading entity or a different factory
  • Issuing-body database — certificate numbers checked against the issuer's own registry (Standard and Premium)
  • Registration cross-check — the holder's registration record (Standard and Premium)

What you receive

  • A written report in English with a clear verdict
  • The evidence behind each finding, with certificate numbers and dates cited
  • A list of exactly what to ask your supplier next
  • A plain statement of what could not be verified, and why

Is this a certification service?

No. I provide an independent verification opinion on documents. I do not issue certificates and I am not a certification body. Certification is issued only by accredited certification bodies.

I only have a photo of the certificate. Is that enough?

Usually yes for the validity and scope check. For the issuing-body database check I may need the certificate number and the issuing body's name — both are normally printed on the certificate.

Can you tell me if the certificate is fake?

I can tell you what the issuing body's database says, whether the number matches, whether the holder name matches, and whether the scope covers your product. That is a stronger and more useful answer than a yes/no on authenticity.

What if the certificate does not cover my product?

You get a clear written finding, the reason, and recommended next steps — usually a specific set of questions to put to your supplier before any payment.

Do you work for suppliers?

No. I do not accept work from suppliers I might later be asked to verify, and I take no commission from any factory.

B · Factory vs Trading Company Verification

from $25

You asked a simple question: "Are you a factory?" You got a simple answer: "Yes, we are a factory." In a published field study covering 218 factory visits between 2024 and 2026, 34% of suppliers presenting themselves as manufacturers turned out to be trading companies or intermediaries, and one in five factory addresses listed on supplier websites did not match the real production location. A trading company is not automatically a problem. Paying factory prices to a trading company is.

What I check

  • Registration record — legal entity, registration status, registered scope of business, registered address
  • Factory or trader — does the registered scope cover manufacturing and processing, or only wholesale, import and export?
  • Address consistency — registered address vs. the address your supplier gives you vs. the actual production location
  • Public records — abnormal-operation listings, court judgments, enforcement records where publicly available
  • Live walkthrough (Premium) — unedited video of the production line making your specific product, with the date verified on camera

The test I use most: ask the supplier to describe the specific machine that will produce your order, then ask one technical question about material or tolerance. A real factory answers immediately. A trader redirects you to "our factory team".

What you receive

  • A written report in English with a clear conclusion — factory, trading company, or hybrid
  • The evidence behind it, cited
  • The questions you should ask next
  • If your supplier is a hybrid (a real factory with a separate trading arm — increasingly common), which entity would sign your order and hold your inventory

Coverage note

The Premium live walkthrough is available in the Yangtze River Delta region. For other regions, please message me first to confirm feasibility.

What if my supplier refuses the live walkthrough?

That is itself a finding, and I will say so in the report. Reluctance to allow a live, unedited walkthrough is a risk signal worth knowing before you pay.

Can you tell me if the price is fair?

Not as a standalone service. But knowing whether you are dealing with a factory or a trader directly explains a large part of the price gap.

How do you verify the address?

By comparing the registered address, the address your supplier provides, publicly available records and — where relevant — satellite imagery. On Premium, the live walkthrough settles it directly.

Is this service suitable for small orders?

It is most valuable when an order is large enough that losing the deposit would matter, or when you are working with a new supplier for the first time.

C · Full Remote Supplier Due Diligence

from $120

Nobody verifies a supplier for fun. You do it because you are about to send money to a company you have never seen, in a country you may never have visited, on the basis of a conversation and a few photos. This is the complete version of that work — a structured, six-dimension due diligence report on a single Chinese supplier, built for buyers about to commit a deposit.

What I check — six weighted dimensions

  • Entity legitimacy (25%) — is the legal entity real, active, and who is actually behind it?
  • Manufacturing capability (20%) — do they own the equipment and the process, or subcontract?
  • Quality management (20%) — what system actually governs production, and is it relevant to your product?
  • Product certification & compliance (15%) — do the certificates exist, and do they cover your product?
  • Commercial terms (10%) — price structure, MOQ logic, lead-time realism, payment terms
  • Financial & legal exposure (10%) — abnormal operation, litigation, enforcement records

What you receive

  • Each dimension scored and weighted, producing a single verdict: PASS, CONDITIONAL PASS with specific conditions to clear, or REJECT
  • The reasoning behind the verdict, so you can disagree with me if you want to
  • A 12–15 page report plus an evidence annex: photograph log, documents verified, interview log
  • Standard and Premium: raw evidence from the live walkthrough and structured interview, not just conclusions
  • Premium: side-by-side comparison of 2+ suppliers, negotiation talking points, 30-day follow-up QA

Delivery time

5 days (Basic) · 7 days (Standard) · 10 days (Premium).

What makes this different

Most verification services confirm that a company exists and is a real factory. Both matter. Neither answers the question that costs buyers the most money: whether the certification the supplier is relying on actually applies to the product being ordered. I check certification scope against your specific product, and I check whether the certificate holder is the same legal entity that will receive your payment — because "our sister company handles payments" is a common and expensive surprise.

What exactly is a "CONDITIONAL PASS"?

It means the supplier is workable, but specific things must be resolved first — for example a certificate scope that does not cover your product, a payment entity that differs from the supplier entity, or a lead time that does not match capacity. Each condition comes with the specific question or document to request.

Do you visit the factory in person?

The Standard and Premium packages include a live, unedited video walkthrough of the production line for your product. In-person visits are available for certain regions — message me first to check feasibility.

Will you tell me not to work with a supplier?

Yes, if that is what the evidence supports. A REJECT verdict is a legitimate outcome and it is included in the price. You are paying for an accurate answer, not a reassuring one.

Is this report usable in a dispute?

It is an independent verification opinion based on public records and the documents you provide. It is not a legal opinion and I cannot guarantee how any third party will weigh it. It will, however, document exactly what was checked and when.

What I need from you to start

  1. Your supplier's full legal name in ChinesePlus the business licence if you have it. This is the single most useful thing you can send.
  2. What you are orderingProduct, material, intended use and target market — the scope test depends on this.
  3. Every document the supplier has sharedCertificates, test reports, declarations, quotation, chat history. Photos or PDFs are fine.
  4. The name of the entity that will receive your paymentBecause that entity, not the one on the certificate, is the one you need to be sure about.
